This summer, Urban Art got to spend some time on the beach. We travelled all over the coast with Hot Summer of Touch, watching one of our favourite sports, touch rugby.
As proud sponsors of the South African touch rugby series and avid rugby fans, we loved watching the teams compete. With UrbanArt shoes on our feet, plenty of water, and covered in sunscreen, we were prepared for anything.
If you haven’t been to the HSOT, you’re missing out. Not only is the sporting event tons of fun, but it’s a great place to meet people or just enjoy the summer vibes. Plus, we loved to watch the camaraderie and sportsmanship shown by the players.
What is the Hot Summer of Touch?
The HSOT championship is a touch rugby tournament that has been around for 21 years. It started small but has since grown into an event that draws massive crowds. The tournament consists of 8 series across various beaches. It’s run as a roadshow, meaning you can travel with the event or just visit one beach.
This years beaches included:
- Strand Beach
- Camps Bay
- Kleinmond
- Struisbaai
- Mossel Bay
- Hartenbos
And if there’s enough interest, you’ll also be able to catch Junior and Ladies touch rugby games. With contests, prizes and product displays, there’s more than just rugby on show. Plus, the beach is the perfect place to show off your colour changing shoes!
Each touch rugby team consists of a maximum of 8 players ready to take home the title. This touch rugby tournament is a must-see for South Africans and tourists alike.
Each year the event outdoes the previous year, never failing to disappoint.
